The Undiscovered Country (1991)

In this movie, Kirk and McCoy are accused of killing a Klingon High Chancellor and sentenced to life imprisonment on a prison planet. The crew of the Enterprise, not believing that their captain would do such a thing despite his issues with the klingons, set off to rescue them and thwart a conspiracy to end hostilities with the klingons. One of the better original Star Trek movies.

The Hunger Games (2012)

A pretty faithful adaptation of the book and one of the best survival movies I’ve seen in a while. Let’s be honest here I’m not the biggest fan of dystopia media. In fact I wasn’t that crazy about the other books/movies in this series which is why they won’t be talked about here. But I like this first book/movie. I guess because there is a little bit of survival wrapped in it. A thought about whether or not Katniss is going to survive the Hunger Games. It’s as enjoyable as any of these kind of movies can be.

Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman (1993-1997)

Basically the Superman story. We have all the characters, Lois Lane, Clark Kent, Lex Luthor, Jimmy Olsen, ect. One thing I noticed about this story is that they concentrate a lot more on the relationship between Lois and Clark than some of the others. I remember enjoying it although I haven’t watched it in years.

A Fantastic Holiday Tale by alexcat

I know I haven’t posted any Christmas stuff this year. SciFi doesn’t have a lot of Christmas specials and I have run out in the last couple of years. But I’ve come across another one! This is a Fantastic Four movie based on the early 2000s movies. Basically it’s a fluff piece where Sue wants to have a Christmas party for her family and to try to help Ben get into the Christmas spirit. But will this interfere with Reed’s plans for the holiday? It’s a fun story!

The Forgotten Door by Alexander Key

A children’s book, but one of the greatest science fiction books ever written. Jon is from a planet far away. A planet so far advanced that they have designed a way to step through a door and be on another planet. They decided the Earth wasn’t worth it though and closed up the door to our planet long ago. But one night when Jon is trying to get a better view of the stars, he falls back into the old door and lands on Earth with no memory of his past or his planet. All he knows is that he doesn’t belong…

Interstellar (2014)

The earth is dying so a team is sent into deep space to see if they can find another planet to live on. And once again we have to save Matt Damon. Maybe not the best scifi I’ve ever seen but also not the worst.

Ishmael by Barbara Hambly

A crossover between Star Trek the Original Series and a western titled Here Comes the Brides, this book finds Spock stranded in 1860 Seattle with no memory and only knowing that a. he is not human and b. there was something he needs to do. He is taken in by one of the main character of Brides Aaron Stemple who passes him off as his nephew Ishmael and gives him an accounting job. As Spock tries to find his lost memory, the crew of the Enterprise is desperately trying to find out what happened to their first officer and friend. A fun book with lots of western and scifi cameos including Paladin, Dr. Who, Han Solo, Apollo and Starbuck, Little Joe and Hoss Cartwright, Bart Maverick, Matt Dillon, Lucas McCain, The Rawhide Kid, and the Man with No Name. Another fun fact is that Mark Lenard who plays Spock’s father Sarek also plays Aaron Stemple in Brides.
